Actor Stephen Martines has signed for a recurring role on The Vampire Diaries.

Martines will portray Frederick, a dangerous vampire who is released from a tomb with Katherine (Nina Dobrev), says The Hollywood Reporter.

The 34-year-old is expected to appear on the show when it returns to The CW with new episodes on March 25.

Martines’s credits include stints on the soap operas General Hospital and Guiding Light. He recently appeared on TNT’s The Closer.
