Paul Wesley and his wife, actress Torrey DeVitto, can start carpooling to work.
The actress, who has a recurring role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, has been tapped to recur on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
DeVitto, who married Wesley in April, will play Mary, an intelligent young doctor intrigued by Alaric’s (Matt Davis) powers of recovery on the CW’s vampire drama. She’ll appear in Episodes 310 and 311 with a strong likelihood to continue on afterward.

Disfunkshion Magazine recently interviewed the lovely Candice Accola. She answered questions about how she got her start in acting, what it’s like working on The Vampire Diaries, and her involvement with charitable causes. She also talked a little bit about her character, on the question of whether or not there are any similarities between herself and Caroline Forbes.
Can you relate to your character in the Vampire Diaries in any way?
Candice: I can definitely relate! My character recently discovers her super natural powers. Now while I can’t relate directly in that sense, I am also a young woman still discovering myself at the same time.

When Mandi Bierly spoke to Julie Plec yesterday about the midseason finale, she got some extra details on what fans can expect when Bonnie’s mom, Abby Bennett (Persia White), makes her debut in episode 12, which Plec said she’s currently writing. “In our show, we’ve met a series of Bennett witches. Obviously it is something that seems to have been passed down from generation to generation,” she says. “The lineage of these witches, with Grams and Emily Bennett, has been very important to our show, and Bonnie’s heritage has been very important to the mythology. So it’s about time that we ask ourselves who her mother is, and what her mother might be capable of as a witch or not a witch, and where the hell she is.” Also juicy? We will find out exactly what’s been keeping Mama away from Mystic Falls and her daughter.
The season premiere, titled The Birthday, focuses around Elena’s 18th birthday party. “The CW likes big events to hang their episodes on,” creator Kevin Williamson tells TheInsider.com. “It became a really great way to have all our characters interacting by the fifth act.” And this year, those Mystic Falls-ians have a lot to discuss — which is why we got up close and personal with Williamson to get the scoop on what you can expect in season three!
For a show that thrives on showcasing the dark sides of their characters (Klaus be crazy), seeing the three stars looking so angelic is a bit of a change for us.
Not that we’re complaining, because Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and Paul Wesley look absolutely gorgeous in our exclusive first look at this Vampire Diaries season three promo shot. But the light clothes and sunshine-filled room is the opposite of the TVD atmosphere were used to, no? Perhaps season three will be more about happiness and high school fun and less about hearts being ripped out (physically and emotionally). Probably not, and that’s fine with us.TVD, don’t go changing one bit.
Now if you guys could be so kind and help us decide who of the holy trinity looks the most beautiful, we’d be forever grateful. Tough choice, we know. But these are life’s questions that are begging to be answered…
Take the poll below, and then head to the comments to start counting down the days until TVD’s season three premiere on Sept. 15.
The stars were out in full force for last night’s Teen Choice Awards 2011. From Gossip Girl to The Vampire Diaries, Twilight to Fright Night, everyone mixed and mingled. While Taylor Lautner and Chord Overstreet hung out mano a mano, Cameron Diaz and Blake Lively clicked pics of each other on their cell phones. So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley chatted up proud papa David Beckham when he wasn’t taking snapshots of his boys with their favorite performers.
On the blue carpet, EW correspondent Carrie Borzillo asked the A-listers what their favorite all-time teen comedy. Justin Bieber and Ian Somerhalder hugged it out over their mutual love of Sixteen Candles. See what the rest of the stars, including Joe Jonas, Twilight‘s Ashley Greene, and more, had to say after the jump.
Joe Jonas: “The Breakfast Club. It’s the perfect movie. It’s funny. It’s got heart, the best cast and it still holds up today. There hasn’t been a teen movie that can compare.”
Ashley Greene (Twilight): “I watched Billy Madison religiously when I was a kid. It’s just hysterical. I watched it when I was young and I completely didn’t get the jokes, but it was still entertaining and now when I watch it when I’m older, I can’t believe my mom let me watch this movie. It’s a completely different thing.”
Zoe Saldana (Avatar): “Some Kind of Wonderful. The topics that John Hughes was tackling at that time, especially with that movie, about the wallflowers, the people who are usually invisible in high school and talking about always fighting for your dream.”
Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries): “Clueless. For its time, it was very poppy and the jokes were new and fresh. It was not stupid humor, but the characters were really simple. It’s really great and it was the first of its time.”
Rebecca Black: “I love Easy A. I love Emma Stone. She’s my favorite actress. She’s gorgeous and hilarious.”
Cat Deeley: “Dirty Dancing. It’s the perfect summer coming-of-age teen movie. Nobody puts baby in a corner.”
Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars): “I love The Virgin Suicides. I’m a huge fan of Sofia Coppola and I was a huge fan of the book. She captured that first crush.”
Mary Murphy (So You Think You Can Dance): “One of my favorite teen movies was Footloose. It reminds me of my hometown. I really connected to that because there was no dancing going on in my town either. However, unlike the movie there was nobody fighting for dance in my hometown. When I first saw it, I felt like I was one of the characters in the movie.”
Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf, Crazy Stupid Love): “Say Anything. I love John Cusack. He’s the best. I think every single romantic lead, male, should look up to his character. It’s amazing. I walked by him at Comic-Con, and I literally stopped. I think he may have checked me out, or I could have made that up. Yeah, John Cusack, give me a call!”
Chelsea Hobbs (Make it or Break It): “Pretty in Pink. It defined my childhood.”
Gillian Jacobs (Community): “Adventures in Babysitting. Classic characters, fun adventure.”
Kathryn Newton (Bad Teacher, All My Children): “I love The Twilight Saga. It’s an addiction. I love Kristen Stewart.”

The Vampire Diaries’ very own werewolf, Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood), is up for the Best Supporting Actor award in NCLR’s ALMA Awards.
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) ALMA awards honor Latin Americans for their contribution to the arts, including music, movies, and TV. Trevino, who is Mexican-American, fits the bill perfectly! And while we think he should easily walk away with this honor, he does have some stiff competition, including Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez and The Office’s Oscar Nuñez.
The awards show, hosted by A-listers George Lopez and Eva Longoria, will take place on September 16 on ABC. We’re all howling — er, cheering — for you, Michael!
